My New Jersey practice is also private pay, with a session rate of $180. I do not bill insurance directly, but I am happy to provide a monthly superbill — a detailed receipt that includes the session dates, service codes, and the information your insurance company needs to process a claim.

If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network mental health benefits, a superbill may allow you to be reimbursed for a meaningful portion of each session. Reimbursement rates vary by plan, but clients with PPO coverage often recover between 40–70% of session costs once their out-of-network deductible has been met. I'd encourage you to call your insurance company before we begin to ask specifically about your out-of-network mental health benefits and your current deductible status — it takes about ten minutes and can significantly change the financial picture.

As with all states where I practice, I provide a Good Faith Estimate to new clients prior to our first session in accordance with federal law.
