Counseling in New York — Existential, Narrative & Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I work with adults across New York City and the surrounding area — Manhattan, Brooklyn, and clients who commute in from further out — through weekly telehealth sessions. Most of the people I see are not in crisis. They are, by most external measures, doing well: the job is solid, the relationship is stable, the apartment is the one they wanted. What brings them to therapy is usually quieter than a crisis — a persistent sense that something isn't quite settled, even though nothing is obviously wrong.

New York has a particular way of absorbing that feeling. The pace of the city rewards forward motion and has very little patience for the question of what the motion is for. Someone can spend a decade doing everything right — the right job, the right neighborhood, the right trajectory — and arrive at a point where the achievement has stopped answering the question it was supposed to answer. That's often where our work starts.

Who I work with in New York

I work primarily with professionals in finance, law, technology, healthcare, and academia, along with writers, therapists, and graduate students — people whose lives look put-together from the outside and who are privately working through a decision, a pattern, or a low-grade sense that something is off. Sessions are conducted entirely by telehealth, which means the work fits around a schedule built around long hours and little unstructured time.

Rates & practical details

My New York practice operates on a private-pay basis, at a rate of $180 per session. I am not able to provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.

For clients who value privacy and autonomy in the therapeutic relationship, this arrangement carries its own benefits. Working outside of insurance structures means no diagnostic codes are required, no treatment information is shared with a third party, and the pace and focus of our work together is shaped entirely by what is happening between us — not by what a plan will authorize.

In accordance with federal law, I provide all new New York clients with a Good Faith Estimate prior to our first session — a written outline of anticipated costs so there are no surprises.
