Is your head where your feet are?
Humans have the ability to “time travel” into the future by shifting our attention away from present moment and into the hypothetical future. This attention shift enables planning, strategizing, as well as imagineering and creative endeavors. Unfortunately, for many, it can also lead to worry and anxiety about events that might (or might not ever) occur. Developing the ability to strike a balance of time in the position of your attention in past, present, and future can lead to greater equanimity regarding the challenges that life throws at you. An easy way to access this when you notice you are preoccupied is to ask “Is my head where my feet are?”
