How am I – right here and right now?
When anxious thoughts are showing up we are often ‘time traveling’ to the past or (especially) the future. When this happens, ask yourself “how am I – right here and right now?” Be honest with your answer. Often we are OK right in this second, even if there are stressful events on the horizon. Visiting the “now” frequently during the day can reduce overthinking about past or future events – and help you fully inhabit the only moments you ever really have: present moments.
